In 2019 we had 6 anti-gun bills throw at us, and only two passed due to extreme opposition by the Sheriffs, gun rights organizations, patriot groups, and mostly from the people angered by the attacks on their constitutional rights. This blatant disregard of the voice of the people by the politicians sparked a rebellion of New Mexico counties, cities, and towns passing Second Amendment Sanctuaries in record speed. The intention was to let the legislators know that the people were not going to take this violation of the bill of rights lying down. They defiantly drew a line in the sand and became very vocal opponents!!

New Mexico ended up with 26 out of 33 counties, 6 cities, and 1 town adopting a Second Amendment sanctuary resolution with Taos initially passed a resolution and then later backed out.

30 out of 33 county sheriffs signed a letter by the New Mexico Sheriffs Association vowing to not assist in enforcing unconstitutional gun control.

In 2020, the Sheriffs, the gun rights organizations, and the people wrote letters, sent emails, made calls, went to the media, and came in the state capital, but this year the anti-gun progressives did not listen. In a 30-day budget session, they crammed a poorly written Red Flag Bill that intentionally punishes all law enforcement officers that do not follow through with every single accusation presented to them from the public. They no longer have the discretion to make their own decisions based on real-time evidence and must move forward with all red flag orders for fear of a lawsuit. Because of this, counties are now starting to add an Anti-Red Flag Resolution to their Second Amendment Sanctuary counties. Since the politicians REFUSE to listen to the Sheriffs or the people, we are now asking the city council members and county commissioners to protect our rights.

Per Pro-Gun Women, the list of counties and cities that have passed a resolution in OPPOSITION to Red Flag include:

  • Lea County – (plus the city of Hobbs)
  • Torrance County (plus the city of Estancia)
  • Lincoln County
  • Otero County

HELP NEEDED: If you have photoshop skills and would like to make a county map of this for Pro-Gun Women, that would be fantastic. Thank you.
